Tangy Tuna Burgers

Tangy Tuna Burgers

If you’re looking for something a little lighter than your usual burger but still packed with flavour, these tangy tuna burgers are a great shout. Fresh, zesty and ready in no time, they’re perfect for a quick lunch or an easy midweek dinner. The combination of ginger, garlic and soy gives them a lovely punch, while the fresh toppings keep everything balanced and satisfying.

Ingredients (Serves 2)

  • 160g fresh tuna steak
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • Small piece of fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • Handful of fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 2 burger buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomato
  • Avocado, sliced

Method

Step 1
Start by finely chopping the tuna into small pieces, then continue chopping until it forms a rough mince. Transfer to a bowl and mix in the garlic, ginger, soy sauce and coriander until well combined. Shape the mixture into two burger patties, place them on a plate and pop them in the freezer for around 10 minutes to help them hold their shape.

Step 2
Heat the sunflower oil in a non-stick frying pan over a medium heat. Cook the tuna burgers for 1 to 2 minutes on each side, depending on how you like them cooked.

Step 3
Lightly toast the burger buns, then layer up with lettuce, tomato and avocado. Add the warm tuna burgers and serve straight away.

Simple, fresh and full of flavour, these are a great way to switch up your usual burger night.

Just Caught Tip
Fresh really does make all the difference. When buying tuna, look for firm flesh and a vibrant colour, and keep it chilled until you’re ready to cook. The better the quality, the less you need to do to let the flavour shine. Ready to give it a go? Shop your tuna now and get cooking.
